These Iolite plain (unfaceted) oval beads have great colour and make a good plain staple bead, useful in lots of creations. These beads measure 8x6mm to 10x7mm in size and there are around 40 beads on a 15" strand.

The word Iolite comes from the Greek for violet, although in bead form it is a true blue colour. The Vikings referred to it as 'water Sapphire' and the colour of the stone does change depending on the angle it is observed from. Each bead has colour variation within.
